In Fluke's Road, original, tiny graphite drawings of ubiquitous power lines and phone poles are prong-set in bronze and clustered on a long, deeply oxidized silver chain with my own bronze, lost wax cast honey bee closure.
Fluke’s Road is the signature piece in my Ephemeron series. The series incorporates original 1x1" enameled drawings that are reminiscent of vintage brownie camera snapshots. Each tiny drawing studies aspects of rural Ohio. The Ephemeron series includes bracelets, necklaces, earrings and objects that combine these tiny sketches with cast elements that seem to have escaped from within the drawings, such us twigs, insects, milkweed and clover. All of the works in the series are inspired by my childhood in rural Ohio.
