Tiny chickadees have the amazing ability to lower their body temperature to withstand and adapt to even the coldest of conditions, making them a powerful symbol of dignified strength and resilience in the face of hardship.
Handmade in my Ohio studio, I sculpted this tiny chickadee in wax and cast it in sterling silver. I soldered it to a tiny silver Maple twig which I cast from one that I collected while walking through Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
The tiny bird is less than 1/4" tall, and the twig is about 1" wide. It is suspended from a 18" solid silver rolo chain with an additional extension chain that will add up to 2 more inches to the length. It is finished with a handmade artisan "S" hook clasp and buffed to an elegant satin sheen.
Craftsmanship and quality in my work is incredibly important to me, which is why I use only solid sterling silver (not plated) for the entire piece, and I solder all of my jump rings so the piece will not work itself loose from the chain and fall off.
Packaged with a story card that explains the title and meaning of the piece. Presented in a matte black 2-piece gift box and complimentary anti-tarnish velvet drawstring bag and tied with cloth ribbon.
