On this day in between days
just when winter seemed it would never end
an Iris unfolded from under the snow
and gave to the world
that held within it
the sympathy of the early sun
the patience of the searching root
the kindness caught in each drop
that gives to the waiting seeds
and bulbs, shy and sleeping,
the will to awaken.

See how I translated this poem into an enameled necklace here.

My mom collects feathers for me when she finds them near her house in the woods. I keep them in a jar on my bench. They inspired me to try to fabricate a feather, pictured here. This piece became the basis for my “Not Lost” personalized memorial necklace, find it on my website or look back in my feed to get a look. Hand fabricated sterling silver, 1/2” x 3”.
