This sterling silver and enamel pendant is completely hand fabricated. The enameled focal piece features a one-of-a-kind glass scene of birds on a wire that I created using tiny brushes to "paint" with finely ground glass and water and fused it with a torch. One of the birds stands out in 24k gold foil. The enameled piece is set in a sterling silver handmade bezel setting alongside a smaller sterling silver medallion which I etched with the last stanza of my original poem "Where Bluebirds Brood:"
"To sing the air where
scent of your hair fades
and bathe in light that falls
where you cannot sleep."
The enameled piece is about 1" wide, the etched medallion is about 1/2" wide. Both elements are suspended together from a 20” solid sterling silver rolo chain with an S-hook pinch clasp, and it makes a gentle and satisfying tinkling sound when worn.

𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 Brooch in progress. Vitreous enamel; hand painted, torch fired. This is one of a series of art jewelry pieces incorporating dead, flightless, and falling birds. I designed these pieces to provoke a strong sense of compassion and charity; they are my response to a pervasive callousness, a call for empathy for others.
