Wear this delicate mourning dove feather pendant as a reminder of the unseen. An eclectic and compelling piece of wearable art, I'll inscribe the quill of the feather as shown with, "Not lost but gone before", or personalize it with the name, birth/death date of someone you love, or a short phrase that is meaningful to you.
I make these one-of-a-kind feathers completely by hand, starting with plain sheets of solid sterling silver and wire. I etch the delicate feather pattern from a design that is my own, which I modeled from the shape and pattern of a Mourning Dove feather that I found near my home in Ohio. I cut out the feather shape using a fine jeweler's saw with a blade as thin as a piece of string, and form the barbs of the feather using a series of tools to give it a realistic, dimensional shape. The honeybee – which the Victorians used as a symbol of eternal life – is cast from a real honeybee that I found fallen from a nest in autumn.
This is a limited edition design.

Betty gets fired. Look back in my feed to see how I incorporated this into a brooch.
