It is said that when you find a feather on your path, it is a message from your guardian angel. Some believe the color of the feathers you find are significant, too. Here, I have combined three feathers:
Black – A reminder that you are protected
White – A reminder to keep the faith
Gray – A call to nurture your inner peace
I created the three enameled feathers in this piece using tiny brushes and scribes to "paint" with finely ground glass and then fired it with a torch to fuse the glass to metal. The feathers are set into chunky fine silver bezels and suspended from tube bails that allow the feathers to swing independently. They are suspended from a rod attached to a 27" solid sterling rolo chain; the pendant itself is about 3" tall. The back of the middle feather is hammer textured and stamped with my maker's mark and .925 sterling purity stamp; the other two feather backs are sanded smooth.

𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 Brooch in progress. Vitreous enamel; hand painted, torch fired. This is one of a series of art jewelry pieces incorporating dead, flightless, and falling birds. I designed these pieces to provoke a strong sense of compassion and charity; they are my response to a pervasive callousness, a call for empathy for others.
