A giant tsunami looms over a tiny city in this catastrophic little ring.
I created this miniature apocalypse by "painting" with powdered glass on steel using tiny brushes and various scraping tools. I fired the design with a torch to fuse the glass to the metal, making the glass painting permanent. The ring setting is also completely hand fabricated from sterling silver sheet and wire, and deeply oxidized and burnished with a brass brush to give it a black appearance. The enameled scene is a about 3/4". It is one of a kind, and it is a size 7.
This ring is part of my limited edition Tiny Catastrophes series of modern memento mori jewelry that explores the fragility of life and our desire to control the uncontrollable.
