It seems our true strength is often revealed only when we think we are at our weakest. This scene captures the moment we find our faith, and the courage to go forward into the unknown. As I painted the scene, I was reminded of a quote from one of my original poems, and etched the text onto the bezel: "It is late and I've lost my way but I will not follow the sun."
"Without a Map," approx 3/4" original enameled scene of a moonlit highway with crescent moon and stars and a hint of light on the horizon. It is bezel set with a line from one from one of my original poems: Accompanied by a rose cut gray moonstone. 30" rolo chain with handmade S-hook clasp.
I created the original one-of-a-kind scene in vitreous enamel, a process of using tiny brushes to "paint" with finely ground glass and heat it with a torch to fuse it to metal.
The enameled scene and the moonstone are are suspended together from a long 30” solid sterling silver rolo chain with an S-hook pinch clasp. The back is stamped with my maker's mark and .925 sterling purity stamp.

𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 Brooch in progress. Vitreous enamel; hand painted, torch fired. This is one of a series of art jewelry pieces incorporating dead, flightless, and falling birds. I designed these pieces to provoke a strong sense of compassion and charity; they are my response to a pervasive callousness, a call for empathy for others.
