Memento mori (“remember death”) jewelry of the 1800s was designed to remind us to "live righteously" – or in today's thinking, “be present in the moment.” This collection of memento mori pieces reflects the historical significance and gravity of our times. I aim to bring a sense of empathy and context to the work through images and symbols that evoke both pity and dread, that are reminiscent of the hardships and perspectives of generations before and centuries past.
