Survival, acceptance, and courage. This is what was on my mind as I became lost creating this tiny scene of a distant ship listing on the horizon, overwhelmed in a storm. And, as I worked, I thought of the “Fisherman’s Prayer:”
O God, thy sea is so great, and my boat is so small.
These sterling silver and enamel pendants are completely hand fabricated. The enameled piece features an original one-of-a-kind glass scene that I created using tiny brushes to "paint" with finely ground glass and water and fused it with a torch. If you look carefully at the photos, you will see that I added three subtle streaks of 24k gold rain to the scene. The enameled piece is about 3/4" wide. It is set in a sterling silver handmade prong setting alongside a smaller sterling silver medallion which I etched with the fisherman's prayer; the medallion is pitted and distressed to create the look of a coin rescued from a sunken ship.
The medallions are suspended together from an 18” solid sterling silver rolo chain with an S-hook pinch clasp, and it makes a gentle and satisfying tinkling sound when worn.
